Modern Antiquity in Košice
On 8 and 9 November, the first edition of the AGORA philosophical festival will take place in Košice. The theme is the influence of antiquity on modern and contemporary philosophy, such as Martin Heidegger, Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes and Alain Badiou.
Michael Hauser, in his paper on Platonic inspirations in the work of Alain Badiou, will discuss how Badiou created a new interpretation of Plato's ontology. Badiou translated Plato's Constitution and presented a different Plato than the one we know. For example, he illuminates that ideas are not in some "netherworld" but coexist in a special way with the things of our world. Jana Beránková in the publisher. Suture is preparing for publication a book of her interviews with Badiou on European thinkers. Here Badiou talks about Plato's philosophy as a philosophy that has been abandoned or suppressed in the last hundred and fifty years. But it is a philosophy that inspires us to understand the concept of truth in a new way.
