Hynek Janoušek's lecture
University, emigration, Terezín. Lifes of Prague German philosophers before the 2nd World War
Anotation:
Most of the Prague German philosophers before the WW2 build on the work of T. G. Masaryk's teacher Franz Brentano. Their ideas resonated also among the German Jewish writers (Brod, Kafka). The lifes and thoughts of these philosophers (Ehrenfels, Bergman, Kraus, Winter, Utitz) can help us understand the rupture that came with the birth of Czechoslovakia, and the inescapable choice the followers of Brentano's rationalism had to make after the Munich crisis.
