ANIMALS and ETHICS

Can animals think? Do they have consciousness? Do persons exists in the animal realm? Do they interests worth our respect? Or do animals deserve our respect and moral consideration for reasons that are independent on if and how we answer these question? And what reasons would that be?

In the first Philosophical Café in 2019, we will discuss such questions together with Tomáš Hříbek, David Černý a Petr Urban. In mutual dialogue, they will consider this topic in the frame of contemporary debates in philosophy of mind and ethics. Our guests will also introduce some of their recent publications and projects in the fields of animal ethics and animal minds.
