Ritter, M., Poznáním osvobozovat budoucí. Praha: Oikoymenh: 2018. The book presents a general interpretation of Walter Benjamin's thought based on the interpretation of his theory of truth. Truth, according to Benjamin, is not the matter of cognition but resides in things themselves, yet it is not fully expressed in the world. That is why Benjamin asks what cognitive and expressive tools can be used to make it fully present. A presentation of truth is not just a theoretical problem, but also ethical and political, even an eschatological one. Truth requires a presentation, some kind of actualisation, and thus it requires a change and salvation of the world. A reconsctruction of Benjamin's theory of truth thus allows for showing the intertwining of theoretical and practical, materialistic and religious motives in Benjamin's work.
