The book presents a narrative of phenomenological disputes regarding the nature of phenomena, especially in the context of the new French phenomenology. The author analyzes in detail the phenomenological concepts of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Michel Henry, Emmanuel Lévinas, Marco Richir, and Jean-Luc Marion. A book is supplemented by the previously published anthology of texts of contemporary French phenomenology under the title "What is a phenomenon?" (Pavel Mervart, 2010).
